Recipient groups¶
Recipient groups allow you to pre-select conversations so that you can quickly configure a message of any type for delivery.
âšī¸ Conversations include:
- Direct messages with other users
- Multi-person direct messages (group messages)
- Private channels
- Public channels
To create a recipient group:¶
- Head to the Nightowl app home â make sure you are on the

When more than one conversation is selected, semicolons will be used as delimiters to display the recipients after the message is created.
E.g. a message to separately selected DM recipients @Jack, @Jill, and @Jen will show as
BCC: @Jack; @Jill; @Jen
whereas selecting a group DM between you, @Jack, and @Jill in addition to a separately selected DM with @Jen will appear asBCC: @Jack, @Jill; @Jen

âšī¸ When a recipient group is shared, regardless of whether it is static or dynamic, a copy is offered to the user(s) you share it with that reflects the group's current state.
Any subsequent modifications you make to your recipient group will not propagate to shared copies belonging to other users. Similarly, changes that another user makes to their own copy of the group you shared with them will only affect their copy.

Convert conversations to distinct users¶
Selecting many individual users can be tedious. Use the optional checkbox to create a recipient group from the distinct users present across the selected conversations. This will build a group from the unique members of any public or private channels, multi-person direct messages, and/or direct messages.
